Any recommendations for a transfer company from Hotel Silky in Lyon to the Lyon airport. Also tipping guidelines for a driver if not included in the fare. Thanks
I would just take transit, starting at the Cordeliers transit stop. You can get there by the following path:
1. Take a right out of Hotel Silky, walk about 100 feet to rue Grenette
2. Turn right on rue Grenette, walk 2 blocks east toward the Rhône River (about a football field's distance) to rue de la République
3. Turn left on rue de la République and walk for about 150 feet, just beyond the Grande Pharmacie Lyonnaise on the corner.
The stop you need would be on the left, west, side of rue de la République. Look for the sign on the bus stop for bus C3 heading in the direction Vaulx-en-Velin ("C" buses in Lyon run on the major lines, and are large, generally articulated electric/diesel buses). The fare per person is 1€90 if you buy the ticket ahead of time, 2€20 if you buy from the bus driver.
Get off the bus at stop Part-Dieu Jules Favre (stops are announced on the bus PA system and displayed on one or more screens within the bus).
Walk about 1,500 feet straight ahead to Gare Part-Dieu, which will be on your left across the street (you'll be entering on the transit mall side, bordered on one side by the gare and on the other by the huge Part-Dieu shopping mall). Walk through the gare and exit on its east side (referred to as the Villette side). Cross the small street used by taxis and you'll see on your right the stop for the Rhônexpress tram that goes straight to the airport. The fare per person one-way to the airport is 16€10 if purchased at the tram stop at Part-Dieu or 14€90 if purchased online.
By comparison the taxi fare from that area to LYS would be around 53€ daytime and 74€ at night.
