We will be arriving at CDG airport on May 29th and need to get to Paris Gare de Lyon. I have limited mobility and cannot walk far at any one time. Any suggestions? Thanks. Joan
A taxi costs a fixed price of 50 euros or the Les Cars Air France bus #4 runs directly to Gare de Lyon for 17 euros. Will you request wheelchair assistance in the airport? It's huge, so that would be a good idea to book through your airline. See maps and other details at http://easycdg.com/airport-guide/which-terminal-information-paris-cdg-airport-charlesdegaulle/.
Also you probably will need a wheelchair at Lyon. It is not overly large but it is some distance from the curb to the platform. What is a reasonable distance for you to walk? Can you do it in chunks if you have the opportunity to rest? For the most part train stations in Europe are not well suited for limited mobility. Would you consider a portable wheelchair for your trip?
the Cars airFrance bus is convenient, but does drop you down on the street below the main rail station (quite a staircase to join the station level, or I suppose you could walk around and walk back up the ramp, thus avoiding the steps but consequently making your walk longer). To be dropped off at level, you'll need to take a taxi.
I'm glad that Kim mentioned the staircase logistics. Also, if you want to make an advance request for boarding assistance in a French train station, see http://www.sncf.com/en/services/disability/support.
Thanks all. I have now successfully secured the assistance I need with your help. Now I only hope the trains are running! Joan
