Landing at Paris cdg airport at 2135 hrs. With two children, wife and mother. Will be having 4 large suitcases. Should I book a shuttle which is costing around 69 euros or can hire a big taxi/ mini van when we come out of the airport.

69 euro to transport 4 people and lots of luggage sounds like a good deal to me.
A taxi costs a flat fee of €50 to that area and should be the same for a larger vehicle. If there's not one waiting, they'll call one. You wouldn't have to meet up with any one particular driver. http://www.parisaeroport.fr/en/passengers/access/paris-charles-de-gaulle/taxi/paris-cdg-taxi
One tiny correction - since you're five people (I think, from the way you wrote your post), there will be a small extra charge for the fifth person, but still very reasonable. It only adds 4 euros -- so 54 euros for your taxi to your lodging. That's just over 10 euros a person! It would cost you that much to schlep there on the RER and metro, and you'd be changing, walking, etc. Take a taxi from the official stand and ignore anyone inside the airport terminal (or on the sidewalks outside) who verbally ASKS you if you want to take a taxi. Follow the signs to the official stand and get in the queue!!
Not to mention if you hire a shuttle/van in advance, it's always a pain trying to meet up with them, you are worried if your flight is late or early, etc. etc. Just take the regular taxi.
Yes 54 -- no need for a tip although if they are very helpful with luggage etc, a couple of Euros is appropriate. 69 is a rip.
