Airport Entry and Exit - France

all,
has anyone visited France since October 2025?
Were you required to enter information into the EU Entry and Exit System (EES)? My understanding is that officers will capture biometric information at the airport, upon arrival? Did anyone have issues with the system, or officers upon landing in France (or Schengen area)? Also, the EU was going to launch the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) system last October but now it is planed for next October 2026.
What I'm getting at, is do you need anything special other than a passport when going to France (or Schengen Area).
I checked the State Departments website, but with the Govt Shutdown, and possible shortage of staff I wanted to reach out to the forum.
Thank you.

You only need your U.S. passport to enter France.
The EES program is being phased in now, but it does not require any more than your photo being taken and fingerprinting upon your EU entry and exit.

All of EES will just be handled at a kiosk type gate, you walk up, scan your passport, answer some questions, look at the camera, then place your hand on the scanner, and all should be good. Nothing is needed by you ahead of time.

There have been some reports of people having to try the picture a couple times, and if the scanner can't get a good print or two off your hand, it may ask you to try your other hand. There will be people there to help.
