Airb&B or VRBO in Paris?

We will be traveling to Paris next summer and we have heard ups and downs with using non-traditional Hotels in Paris. We have heard that the city is cracking down on AirB&B's and people have shown up and not had a place to stay.

So we are traveling with a group of 7-10 people so we were thinking of renting a place to accommodate all of us.

Any advice or experience in Paris with AirB&B? We have used these sites many times in other places in Europe and around the world and loved our experiences.

Beyond AirB&B are there any recommendations for hotel rooms that accommodate 2 adults and 2 kids?

Thanks

Maybe there needs to be a new, dedicated forum just for the endless debate about these short-term rental services...

For hotels, look for "quads." In Paris, unlike the US, hotels only accommodate the number of people indicated. A double room is for 2 - not 2 adults and an infant; and a "triple" is for 3 persons, regardless of age or who might be willing to double up. A "quad" might include 2 double beds and a twin, or one double and 2 twins. Booking.com is a good resource to research for hotels as well as apartments. Search also for "Appart hotels."

Try vacationinparis.com. It is an American company operated out of New Jersey. We always stay in the 2eme arrondisement which is rue Montorgueil , a shopping street just like rue Cler. The big advantage is that there are no tourists, except those of us renting apartments. 20 minute walk to Louvre or Marais. About 25 minutes to Notre Dame. We don't waste our feet walking so we take the metro. Those museum floors are hard!

hey todd
like david has mentioned, this subject has been posted many times here. you can do a search, middle of page with magnifying glass with answers there. the city has cracked down on illegal apartments as some other cities in this world has done. lots of travelers have loved their experiences but on the other side, residents have hated it and despised how people have invaded the area near or at their home. been in the newspapers all over. what feels good on one foot does not fit well on another foot. they want to live like a local, some locals can't be bothered. some places have restrictions on how many people in a hotel room/apartment double is 2 triple is 3, if you exceed that they can have you removed, plan and simple, airbnb, vrbo, etc needs to have 13 number registraion or it's illegal. it's that country's laws and rules, we need to follow. check booking.com, put in filters on left side and shows what's available, trip advisor.com same thing about filters.. try priceline, expedia, and see if there is a place for all 7 of you or hotel with 3 rooms near each other. check bedrooms, how many bathrooms, beds and what type (twin or double), deposit, what area. remember rooms are smaller in europe. good luck
