Air Traffic Controllers' Going on Strike July 2, 3?

Hello Everyone!
After a year in the planning, I'm wondering if our trip to France is going to be derailed due to an upcoming strike by French Air Traffic Controllers. I have read two articles now; one that says it will begin on July 2nd and continue through the 3rd, and another that says the date has been moved up to include June 30.
My airline has no info on this at all, and the only thing they could tell me is that, in the past, it hasn't cancelled international flights, only delayed them. Does anyone have any fresh info/opinion on this situation? I'm wondering if I should have plan 'B' for connecting trains, hotel arrival a day late, etc.

Thanks! Holding breath.....

Thanks Marvox. I would not have been aware if you hadn't posted this. Appears this is not widely reported in US media, just like the taxi drivers' protest.

Hey Keith!

Thanks for the reply - we're flying from Vancouver, Canada on a well-run charter carrier...any idea how much delay this kind of thing causes?
Thanks!

Thanks again for the update Keith! New is VERY hard to come by here in Canada - no updates or info at all! You mention that the air traffic controllers strike has been suspended, but that there are other unions that may still go ahead - do you know which ones they are and how they might still affect airline travel?

any further updates you come across would be very much appreciated!

Hey Keith,

I've been checking my airline's website, but nothing so far. Perhaps because what you say is true, and that they are probably not affected except for some delay on the other end. I'll probably call them again tomorrow...
Thanks very much for your reply -

Cheers,
Marvox

Our flight is scheduled to arrive in France on the 4 July, leaving Canada the 3 July. Others in our party are traveling through the UK. Do you think that by the 4th, there will still be delays, or will we be ok if the strike goes ahead? Thinking there may be earlier flights bumped, or that planes can't back to their destinations, and we'll still be affected.

Keith, thanks for the suggestion to check the Air France site. I see the notice on there, but don't see it on the Delta Airlines site altho Delta does have alerts on the problems at the terminal in Rome and did have a notice about the taxi strike in Paris last week. Looks like AF is a good site to have on my mobile device even if I am not flying them.

I don't expect to see anything concrete until Monday morning Paris time.

Unfortunately, the strike looks to be very much on, and this press report from Le Figaro tonight suggests that union members are likely to uphold their unions' plans to strike quite strongly. They do point out, however, that the "minimum service" law put in place by the last government means that they still have to keep about 50% of flights running.

As another Helpliner (excuse me, Forum Member) pointed out earlier, the flights that are usually affected first are those for short-to-medium haul flights (i.e. within France or between France and other European countries).

As always, keep checking your airline's website and Twitter for updates, as well as Twitter/website for Aeroports de Paris (the body that runs CDG and Orly).

Thanks Kim. We are seeing no press coverage here on this. Airline website not updated for days as well.
