Looks like the union voted down the offer for 7% raise over a period of time and the CEO will now step down. That's disappointing. With a flight coming up in June I was hoping they would accept this offer. No end in sight now.
Well, then.
Bigger picture: no raise since 2011. Employees asked for 6%. AF offered 2% over 2 years, which set off the strike. Now offered 7% over 4years, less than 2% a year for 4 years. Meanwhile, competition from subsidized oil-country carriers is tough while the European legacy carriers are loosing their nations’ subsidies. It’s a tough situation for workers and management—and travelers.
I wish the two sides would choose an independent mediator or do something more direct to bring this thing to a resolution. Anyone have a guess as to what happens now?

Presumably negotiations will continue in some form.
Both sides have the common goal/interest of keeping the airline operating as the employees have no job if they price themselves out of the market and management wants to keep its jobs or shareholders will bring pressure. Its a high wire balancing act of keeping costs competitive and wages/income sufficient to attract and keep a trained workforce. Where those competing/divergent interests intersect is what they are searching for.
Finding the needle in the haystack is not always quick
That's my guess. Whether its worth $0.02 is another issue.
Considering the competitive environment 7 to 8 percent over 4 years is as good as it's going to get.
