Aiguille du Midi in Chamonix

We're planning on going in late August. Question: Does the round-trip ticket from Chamonix include the cable car to Heilbronner or do I have to buy a separate ticket for that? Or do you buy that once you're on top? Thank you!!

You need to purchase a ticket for each leg of the trip. Most people don't go to Helbronner because it is a pretty long trip, and because the Aiguille du Midi is enough for them. Personally, I think the trip to Italy is worth the extra charge, and you can get un doppio cup of Joe made by a real Barrista.

Plus, the gondola ride is completely different from the crowded cable car to Aiguille.

I would definitely take the trip to Helbronner (no "i"). You get to see spectacular alpine glacial features out of every window. It's terrific. Worth every penny.

We're definitely planning on going to Heilbronner. My question is about the ticket. Does the round-trip ticket include the cable car to Heilbronner or do I have to buy a separate ticket for that? Or do you buy that once you're on top?

I don't want to buy the r-t ticket and then find we can't continue to Heilbronner.

I'm curious too. We will be there in early July. I found this link, https://www.chamonix.net/english/lift-systems/lift-passes/summer-lift-prices#aiguille-du-midi

Looks like you can buy a roundtrip from Chamonix to Helbronner for 103 EUR (Edited, I had the wrong price in there))... If you are there for a few days, they have a pass that covers everything for a great price (3 days 69 EUR). But Helbronner is not included in the pass. Which kinda gets back to your original question, If the pass gets me to Aiguille du Midi, can I purchase Helbronner once I am there?.. I hope this helps a little.. Would be great if someone know from experience..

As I read the schedule of fares, it looks like R/T from Chamonix to Helbronner is 103 Euros for an adult. If you are old like me, it is less.

Just purchase the ticket at the beginning. That way you won't chicken out when you get to the Aiguille.

It’s been many years, but we bought the ticket to Hellbronner after we got up to Aiguille du Midi.

Thanks so much to all of you! I was up there 8 or so years ago and had remembered I bought the add-on ticket to Heilbronner once I was up there but wasn't sure. The trip over the upturned needles of rock in an open-air cable car was one of the thrills of my life, and the air was the purest I've ever smelled in my life!

Definitely worth going over the hump to Italy. But, while there, don't get caught in a lengthy Italian lunch and forget the long ride home.
