Aiguilee du Midi to Punta Helbronner

Anyone taken the cable car/gondola over to Punta Helbronner? Do you have to schedule a specific time slot?

There are several different types of passes for the Chamonix area but I'm having a difficult time getting helpful information on the trip to Helbronner (and return). We aren't skiers but the unlimited pass for 2 days may be our best value since there is a senior rate for that. The Italian ski areas are included but I'm not clear about just going from AdM to Helbronner, and back.

We'll be in Chamonix April 9, 10 and 11. It seems that is still considered winter season.

The gondola that goes from the top of the Aiguille du Midi to Ponte Helbronner is
called the Panoramic Mont-Blanc. It is only open in the summer, so you won't be
able to take it over to Italy.

If you end up going at a later time, the Panoramic is not covered under any of the
passes you can buy for Chamonix. When you get to the top of the AdM, you go to
a ticket booth and purchase a ticket for the Panoramic separately.

Well darn! Guess I'll have to make another trip in the summer. The first time I was in Chamonix, we were not able to go to the top (I don't recall what the problem was) but we enjoyed the midway stop at least.
