afternoon near CDG

We will be arriving CDG and checking into Hilton late morning for overnight stay before taking TGV south early the next morning. We are interested in Senlis for that afternoon/ early evening and would like suggestions about transportation to Senlis and back to Hilton. Uber? Taxi? costs? I would rather not rely on bus unless dependable. Have been to Paris several times so not interested this trip. Thanks.

According to the rome2rio website, a taxi would be about $100, each way of course.

Hi,
The Hilton in CDG is right next to the CDG "Roissypole" bus station and there is an almost hourly bus to and from Senlis from that station. A bit less frequent at weekends but still runs. It is line number 40 and its final destination is Creil. Travel time about 30 min.
So I would definitely do it by bus, a cab will be expensive and hard to find for the way back (I don't think Senlis has a centralized cab dispatch, and it is beyond Uber range).

If that sounds stressful, an alternative could be to go to the Basilique of Saint Denis: not quite in Paris, it is a very interesting historical site (burial place of the French Kings) with beautiful architecture and a characterful town center around it, although the town is sadly a bit run-down. Easiest way to go is an Uber.

Thank you Balso. We arrive CDG Friday morning, will likely be lacking sleep, so low key and easy afternoon somewhere would be great. Can we depend on public transport to and from either St. Denis or and/or Senlis?.

Also...approximate cost of Uber to/from St Denise-CDG? Haven't Ubered in France...any heads up to be aware of?

On a Friday (weekday), buses to/from Senlis will be dependable. You'll see how energetic you feel as you land!
As for St Denis, you can take the RER B to "La Plaine-Stade de France" and uber from there (it's 1.5 miles), otherwise I reckon that a cab/uber from the airport would cost 35-40 euros each way and be much more relaxing.

Not sure what's in Senlis except the cathedral, but Chantilly is not far away also

Senlis is far more interesting and beautiful than Chantilly.

Thanks everyone. I checked for bus stations in Senlis and there appear to be several. Which would be the preferred stop to get off for a nice afternoon walkabout and spot for lunch?
