We end our tour in Vienna and have four days and three nights to spend in Paris before heading back to London for flight home. We're looking for suggestions on where to stay with that short amount of time. We plan to explore with Metro but are looking for the best suggestions for a home base. Prefer something with local charm, not chains. Thank you!
What's your budget, in euros?
Around 150 to 175 Euros
We've enjoyed Hôtel Eugénie in the 6th arrondisement on rue Saint-André des Art. Depending on your requirements (a Standard or a Superior) it could be in your price range. Location is amazing! Also it looks like it has been renovated since we stayed there in 2014.
The area around Place de la Republique is efficient for short-term stays as its Metro station serves five different lines, making for easy commutes through the central city. Without major tourist sites itself, the vibrant plaza and the nearby Canal St-Martin are prime for Paris residents themselves. Any big hotel booking site will provide enough information to avoid chains, but for a short stay the efficiency of big operations such as Ibis compensates for lack of local charm.
We loved Hotel de Lutece on the Ile St Louis.... great central location near Notre Dame... we loved walking to so many places and avoided the stress of the metro.....discovered a lot just walking the streets, Left Bank and getting to see so much on foot.
I add a vote for Hotel de Lutece on Ile Saint-Louis, we stayed there in April 2018. Loved the location! The hotel staff were lovely and helpful. it is a very small hotel but I loved their breakfasts. Small elevators. But charming and very French. You can walk everywhere, buses and Metro are close by. Restaurants and shops so very convenient.
If you can't tell otherwise, I loved staying there!
