After a week in Avignon area, where to next? Is Sainte-Maxime a good location to explore for 5 days?

Will be in Avignon for about a week, then will head off to some place new. Any idea where to go for another 5 days? At this point we have reservations in Sainte-Maxime, but I'm not convinced that this is the answer. We have traveled around Provence in the past, but are returning with relatives. We will be departing from Nice. Our trip will be at the end of October, beginning of November. Thoughts will be appreciated.
