aeroflot is now flying direct from san francisco to paris. any comments on the quality and condition of aeroflot transatlantic flights lately? nick from santa cruz
I am not seeing this on their website. I do see flights from LAX, but you have to change planes in Moscow. Total trip time is 19 hours.
Although I have not personally flown on Aeroflot, they get good reviews from people I know who have flown on transatlantic flights with them. The only catch is that for most flights from NA to Europe you have to layover in Moscow for an extremely long time. If you could leave the airport and go into the city it would be fine but with the crazy traffic there and the cost of a visa it's not worth it.
Nicholas, the flight to Paris may be " direct" but that does not mean " non- stop".
They're the official airline of Manchester United, how cool is that
Friend of mine flew LAX to Moscow to St. P to Tel Aviv on Aeroflot a month or so ago and said it was as good as any other airline he's flown.
I am probably flying Aeroflot this summer to St. Petersburg and I still can't shake the story of the pilot who let his children 'fly the plane' and his son flipped a switch causing the crash that killed all aboard. I will be crossing my fingers on this one.
Um yes, because that is so common .....

I didn't remember that crash ... Looked it up and it was in 1994.
Aeroflot has had lots of problems over the years. It is no Quantas. Some carriers are more dangerous than others.
I have been a bit surprised to see good reviews for Aeroflot on here. When I did an online search several months ago, reviews were nearly unanimously bad. I realize that all airlines get bad reviews, but these were the worst I have ever seen.
In light of the unrest in the Ukraine and the probable link between Russia and the Ukrainian separatists who shot down Malaysian Flight 17, I find it difficult to patronize the goods or services from Russia. At this point, I'd not fly with Aeroflot nor book a RS Tour to Russia. If "travel is a political act" then we vote with our travel wallets ...
We now have two postings on Aeroflot, a subject that seldom comes up. Too bad these cannot be merged.
