The fare is one of the most reasonable. Does anyone have any experience flying Aer Lingus into CDG? THanks! I am flying from Washington DC to Paris.
Try Flyertalk.
Ultimately it's a metal tube to get across the Atlantic on not a very long flight.
I should clarify. It's DC-PARIS via Dublin.
The good thing about Aer Lingus is that when you fly home and connect from Paris through Dublin, you do customs preclearance in Dublin. I don't know what the waits are like in the customs line at your airport but preclearing in Dublin can really save time. Although not applicable for this OP, another good thing for people who are connecting in the US is that your luggage can be checked through to the final destination and you can avoid having to take it through customs at your initial landing spot in the US and then rechecking it.
Thanks. That's useful information. I appreciate it!
yes I thought your flight would go through Dublin, that's kinda important.
again for such a simple short flight, why not keep it even shorter and simpler and fly nonstop?
Hi. The trip is Washington DC to Paris with a stop in Dublin. It's not just the short flight from Dublin ti paris.
I’ve flown Bos-CDG on Aer Lingus a few time because of the good prices. The only thing I didn’t like is that it interrupts sleep time, stopping in Dublin. But any non-direct flight is going to do that so, it’s a minor quibble. Nice crew members, food is airplane food, no better no worse than other airlines.
For the short hop from the east of the US to Europe the cheapest airline is fine. Get on the plane, go to sleep , wake up in Europe.
I did my dissertation in London on a Monday morning after a cattle class flight from DC. I think it was on Continental, but it could have been Virgin - whoever was cheapest at the time.
Since when is a 7 hour flight a short hop? It takes about 7 hours to get from Washington DC to Paris on a non-stop flight.
7 hours is a short hop when you grew up in a country where 7 hours is just a cross country jaunt. To visit my father is a 22 hour trip minimum , and currently the cheapest tickets from Paris to Sydney Australia are 62 hours door to door.
Talk about 7 hours in the air to any Australian and they will have no comprehension of why people fret about it
lraditz, I'm going to put in a good word for Icelandair. It's cheap and you fly in two hops from Dulles to CDG. There is a short stop to change planes at KEF but the best thing about that is that you enter the Schengen zone there, and passport control at KEF is quick compared to CDG. KEF is a small airport and they've improved the signage recently.
We haven't been pricing flights on Aer Lingus lately because Icelandair always used to be cheaper. Maybe we should.
Crumbs, easier customs is a good point. I have been checking various fares and Aer Lingus has been a little bit less than Iceland Air, not a huge amount though. Thanks!
