Advise for coastal side trip - France

Family with 2 teenagers spending 2 weeks in Alsace near Strasborg next July. We live in Colorado no ocean here and would love to do a coastal side trip. Looking for destination suggestions. Have considered flying into said city then taking the train to Alsace. We have been to Normandy and would like to see something different. Barcelona? Opal coast? Cote de azur? All help much appreciated!!!

The Med coast is great. Marseille, Cannes, Nice or the pretty little town of Ville Frachce sur Mer. Beautiful area. Marseille is a gritty city that I love and the TGV connects directly to Strasbourg. Take a boat ride to the calanques and visit the new Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilisations.

I recommend the cote d'Azur and Villefranche-sur-Mer, which is. About 5 km from Nice. I visited there first on a RS tour, Paris and Provence, which I believe is a different tour now. I have returned to Villefranche 3 times, once to stay for a month studying French. The bus and trains for day trips are easy and inexpensive. The coast is so beautiful. In Villefranche it is great to sit by the water for a drink or dinner. A nice little beach. I will go back again.

I'd vote for the Cote d'Azur too - - BUT you are going in July when it will be hot hot hot (we used to go to Colorado from Texas to escape the hot) and crowded beyond measure.

Brittany? The Atlantic coast?

Nearest Alsace may be the Cinque Terre and west coast of Italy. Rimini and the east coast will be packed too. Try to avoid a national holiday and weekends.

Thank you everyone! That gives me some ideas for research.
