Advice on Itinerary through Provence and French Riviera

Hi all,

Currently planning the first little leg of a 6 week trip all across Europe. We're flying into Nice, and have 4 days to spend in the Riviera and Provence before heading up to Paris. I'd like to hit Nice, Monaco, Aix-en-Provence, and Arles. Anything here I'm really missing? What's worth staying overnight? Could I fit more in 4 days? I welcome all advice.

Hi!
You definitely cannot go to more places than what you've listed in 4 days. If you have 5 nights you could spend 3 in Nice, 1 in Aix and 1 in Arles (or 2 in Arles with just a stopover in Aix if you're driving), but you'd miss quite a bit along the way, and a 6-week trip at that pace throughout would be exhausting.
If you just have 4 nights, I'd stick with Nice and vicinity, since this is where you land.

4 days for the Riviera and Provence is not nearly enough time. I agree with Balso that if you only have 4 days for this region, then stay in Nice for 4 or 5 nights and sightsee in that area.

Since you have 6 weeks, can you spare more time for this beautiful region of France? After spending 4 or 5 nights in Nice, I suggest spending a week in Provence. The Luberon villages are beautiful and worth seeing. Then there's St. Remy, Les Baux, Pont du Gard, Avignon, etc.

Another vote for spending more time for Nice and Provence OR just visit Nice and Cote d'Azur and head to Paris skipping Provence. Provence is worth a week on it's own.
