Advice on Best town to stop for lunch between St. Malo and Paris

Hello all,
We are staying in the St. Malo area in May and will then be driving back to Paris. On the drive back to Paris, I would like to stop somewhere in between for a few hours to stretch our legs, explore a little, and have lunch. Any advice on some interesting towns that we might stop over ?
We will already have seen Fougeres. I had thought of Vitre' due to its proximity to the A81, any other places a little closer to Paris in order to break up the drive ?

Vitré is a very interesting town, not only thanks to its castle, close to the highway to Paris. The drawback is actually that it is only one hour from St Malo, so it does not break up the drive into 2 equal parts. If you are not against entering a bigger place, you could consider Le Mans (for its old center) or Chartres.

Fougerres is another town near Vitré (and thus with its same logistical drawbacks). Gallettes by the ruins of the old chateau, if it works for you.

Chartres is enroute if you don't mind a late lunch (or early start).

We had a delightful lunch years ago at Le Pichet, now Le Pichet 3 (3rd generation ownership I think). Quirky decor in an old house very near the cathedral in Chartres. I had a rabbit stew in prunes I still dream of.

I am liking the Chartres option, it has been a few years since we have visited, although always looking for something different

I also liked Vitre. I think it would be very appealing to you since you liked Fougeres,
