Hi, We are traveling to Paris with 3 children aged 10,8,5 at the beginning of July. I would appreciate any recommendations and tips. We have accommodations squared away.
We are also thinking of extending the trip after Paris for a few days and would like recommendations of another family friendly city to visit that would not be too strenuous to get to.
Thank you.
We went to Paris with our kids when they were 13 and 9 around that time of the year. We had fun in Versailles by renting one of the carts to drive around the grounds to see all of the sites rather than walking. We hit the normal Museum Pass sites but I found that the kids needed a break in the mid afternoon (along with my wife) rather than powering through all of the places. We then spent a week in London because of my daughter's interest in theater and we really enjoyed the train ride over. Both cities were family friendly and had different things that the kids selected that they wanted to see.
Of course, a boat trip on the Seine is what comes to mind first. The Science Park at La Villette is very kid friendly with lots of interactive stuff for children. You can get there by metro, or by a long-ish canal boat ride which your kids may find boring, but I like it. The two younger children may enjoy a pony or donkey ride in one of the parks. In summer the City of Paris installs at least one swimming pool on the river’s edge, and a kind of “beach”. Fun to see if not to use.
