Advanced reservation for Aiguille Du Midi necessary?

Hello,
We will be in Chamonix in the first week of June.
I have heard that the cable car up to Aiguille Du Midi can get awfully busy in summer. But I am assuming that first week of June is not so intense, and that we can get tickets easily on the day of travel. Also, wanted to confirm that I can get the Multipass from the Aiguille Du Midi cable car ticket counter?
I have some other questions, but I think it is a better idea to split them into other posts rather than make one long post...
Thanks much for your help!

It probably won't be a problem (it wasn't for us last year when we took visitors from the U.S. up there in early June) but if you're the worrying sort, it might be worth it to soothe your mind (assuming it's even possible -- I don't know because I've never done that on my various trips to Aiguille du Midi.

We did it the first week of May and got there at 9:30 am and were in line for 45 minutes so you should be ok.

Hi Vishal, I don't think you need to get advance tickets but I would plan to get there very early. We visited Chamonix as part of a Rick Steves tour. On our free day we went up to the Aiguille du Midi. Our guide advised us to get there as soon as it opened (I think it was 8:00 but you should double-check). We were among the first in line and enjoyed a very uncrowded, unrushed visit. It was starting to get very crowded as we were leaving. We purchased the multipass at the same ticket counter, used it to take the train to Montenvers and walked down to see the ice cave carved out of a glacier. A super-terrific day!

We did not have reservations last September, and it was the only gondola operating at that time. But we did arrive early. I think we might have been on the second one of the day. It was spectacular!

We were there at the end of May last year and we only waited about 10-15 minutes to buy our tickets.

One thing you want to keep in mind is that you'll want to go up on a clear sunny day for best views.
Do go in the morning as the clouds may start rolling in by noon.

Do be aware of any symptoms associated with altitude sickness, and if you start feeling ill (headache, nausea, shortness of breath, etc), you'll need to get down to a lower altitude ASAP.

Enjoy!
