Advance booking for taxi...CDG to hotel

I have an advance booking option at a slight discount $51.00, from Booking.com for a taxi from the airport to our hotel. Has anyone ever used this service and it is worth it?
Thanks again,

Lorie

It is totally unnecessary to book transportation from CDG to your hotel. Taxis have fixed fares of 50€/55€ to the Right/Left Bank respectively and you know that a taxi will be there and where to find them.

I grapple with this issue, sometimes. My wife doesn't like to use public transportation until she feels "at home" in her new surroundings - citing jet lag, disorientation and unfamiliarity as her reasons. OK. I get it. When arriving, we usually take a taxi, but we have hired a transport company on occasion. The "savings" in your example is pretty small - yes, $51 is less than 50/55 Euros, but you have limited yourself to exactly one driver - who you somehow must meet at a "designated time and location" in an area in the airport that may confuse you. By collecting you luggage and stepping out to the taxi reception area, you get the next available ride. On only one occasion while pre-arranging our transport, was the driver exactly where I understood he was supposed to be, (holding a sign with our name on it) - and on that occasion, our flight was 45 minutes late in arrival. I'd say.....take a taxi.

The “savings” is negligible compared with the pain of trying to meet up with your precise reserved driver (is your flight late, is your flight early, how good is your French, how good is the cabbie’s English, how well can you understand “meet me at door 11 on the arrivals level” in French over the telephone?).

It is a lot simpler to write out your hotel’ address and 50€ or 55€ on a piece of paper and hand it to the driver once you have made it to the head of the official taxi line.

(50€ if your hotel is on the Right Bank; €55 if it is on the Left Bank.)
