Admission to the Louvre

We want to go to the Louvre but can't figure out how to get admission to the english speaking tour. Should we buy a ticket for 17 euros but can't buy the english speaking tour until the day of for 12 euro. Does the 12 euro for the tour also cover the admission or do we need to pay for both and do they ever sell out of the english speaking tour?

I can't tell you if the Welcome to the Louvre tour in English ever sells out. The price of the tour is in addition to museum admission by either a single ticket or a Paris Museum pass. If the tour does fill up, you can always rent an audio guide.

You don't need a museum ticket to go to the tour ticket window/office. You can enter under the large glass Pyramid and go directly to where it says "Groupes." It's sort of hidden away in a corner. You don't need to have purchased an entry ticket to do this. The entry ticket is necessary once you want to leave the Pyamid area and enter one of the three different wings of the museum. This is where the different galleries are located.

The Louvre is a mob scene of tour groups sans pareil - so, unless you REALLY love tour groups rubbing shoulders with MOBS of other tour groups - then I would recommend to: Go EARLY or go LATE, and bring a copy of Mona Winks (Rick's museum book - rip out the Louvre section) or download Rick's audio app and guide to your phone before you go and let him guide you. Don't worry - though the Louvre is HUGE - it is well marked and you won't get lost for long.

Mob scene in certain areas is very true. However the Musée Nationale guides use radio headsets with their tours so participants aren't bothered by the other groups.
