I'm going to be on RS tour for a week, and then will be staying a second week on my own. I'll be getting a Navigo Decouverte as part of the tour. What do I need to do to add another week to the card? Can I do it at a self help kiosk? I'm assuming I can add another week and won't have to buy a new one...

The card is good for 10 years; I actually had to replace mine last year, so they actually last exactly 10 years.
To add a weekly pass, you go to a machine in the metro -- some are only for doing this and other machines sell tickets as well as charge up the ND. There is a pink swirly patch on the machine which you set the card on and then follow the steps on the screen for choosing and charging the pass to the card. You can use a credit card. Set the machine to English and follow the steps. The machine will tell you when the process is done and you can remove the ND. Keep the receipt in case it didn't work; this happened to us once and we just took the card and receipt to a window and the clerk put the pass on the card.
US chip/sig credit cards work, just ignore the request for a PIN and proceed and it will complete the transaction. Note that in European machines credit cards are left in until the transaction is complete you don't put them in and quickly retrieve them as you do in US machines.

You may load a fare for the upcoming week anytime Friday through Sunday of the current week.
