Taking the wife and kids to Paris for a few days and looking for some reasonable accommodations for a good sized family. We will be arriving on the Eurostar on Tuesday afternoon and fly out of CDG on Thursday afternoon. Any suggestions? Would like a place easy to get to and easy to catch a train out to the airport as we will be traveling with a 4 year old and a 23 month old.
Thanks
And how many hotel rooms do you want? Because you'll never fit into just 1.
You will need a quad room and a triple. Check out Hotel Marignan in the 5th - a budget hotel with family rooms that accommodate larger groups including one suite for 5. You must declare all people using the room or rooms -- a 23 month old counts as a person and so a couple sharing with said toddler and the 4 year old need a quad room -- or a couple with a toddler needs a triple even if they plan to sleep the child in their own bed. Failure to do this can leave you standing on the street with no room and crying kids. Get any agreement to add a baby to a double or triple room in writing.
I think Janet's referring to the Hotel Marignan on rue du Sommerard in the Latin Quarter, a few blocks from the St-Michel RER station which serves both Gare du Nord and CDG. Not to be confused with the five-star hotel of the same name near the Champs Elysees. I haven't stayed at either (wish I could afford the five-star one).
What is your budget per night? Try the Hotel Excelsior Latin on Rue Cujas. It's also a pretty short walk from the Luxembourg RER B station, where you can get the train to CDG. It's also easy to get to from Gare du Nord by taking RER B a couple of stops. If that hotel is too expensive, you might want to look at the Hotel Cluny Sorbonne.
Thanks for the replies. Found what looks to be a super fun apartment on vrbo. Ended up being about $180 a night. Not bad. The kids seem really excited! It's going to be a fun trip. Let's hope the toddler does well.
There are little pocket parks as well as larger parks all over Paris and they all have play areas with bouncy horses and such for toddlers so you should be able to plan little breaks for the baby. If you can still haul the kiddo in a backpack you might find that very convenient for some of the touring although most museums don't allow them.
Not to go off topic but if the museum doesn't allow backpacks will they have a stroller I can rent? Already planning on bringing some kind of kid leash to keep track of him when he is not in the backpack.
Thanks
