Accommodations in Luberon region

I am wondering if anyone can tell me if it would be difficult finding last minute accommodations in the Provence and Luberon Regions in mid June? We are flying into Nice and have 2 nights in this area before heading to Annecy. Not sure which towns we will be able to see so would like to just "wing it". Thanks.

Have you looked at couchsurfing.com? Its pretty much where locals invite you to stay at their homes for free where they love meeting new people and give out helpful tips and suggestions.

What do you mean by "last minute accommodations? If you mean drive into the area and stop to find a hotel, you may have a more difficult time in mid June. We do use the Mercure and Logis brand hotels. Of course, there are many chambres listed in RS book.

My husband and I love Nice. We like the Mercure hotel Marche aux Fleurs. It is just across the street from the Promenade des Anglais. Mercures have special rates for couples over 60 years of age.

In the Luberon, we have stayed in both Joucas and Roussillon. Gordes is also very close and is visited by lots of people. Roussillon can also be very busy. The ocre cliffs around Roussillon are beautiful.-

Most of the towns have small markets and the days are listed in the RS Provence book. We love the Bedoin market because it is bigger.

Another town to visit is l'Isle- sur-la Sorgue which has lovely old canals in the town. There are lots of restaurants along the canals. On Sundays, there is a large antique market. The town that has the source of La Sorgue is also quite close and fun to visit.

If I had won the Lottery, I would be in the Luberon for as many days as I could legally stay! Enjoy!

As the previous poster has observed, the Luberon is a lovely region, full of charming small towns. There are lots of b&b's, where you can find good accommodations at reasonable rates. I, personally, am not a "wing it" traveler. I have had my early May lodgings, in southern France, reserved for several months. However, if you check a site like booking.com a day or two ahead, I think you should be able to find and reserve places to lay your head. The advantage of such sites is that you will immediately be able to see what's available and reserve it. No wasting time calling around.
