We are planning a trip to France in June and will be spending 4 nights in Paris, 4 nights in Avignon, then two in Barcelona. I'm trying to find 3br accommodations with A/C. Hope to find apartments so that we will have common area spaces to be together at night and do easy breakfasts each morning. I have emailed all the contacts suggested in the Rick Steves books and am awaiting replies. Suggestions, anyone?

Don't know a particular apartment but one agency that does rent for short periods like this is Vacation in Paris. They probably have two bedroom places with a double fold out in the living room that would accommodate this many people.
Frenchy Rentals has a couple of three bedroom places but I don't know if they rent by less than a week. I haven't used them but have had them recommended by friends.

Vacation in Paris is a great suggestion but they have a five-night minimum on many of their properties. Still worth a look.
If that doesn't work out, we have had excellent results using the Vacation Rentals section on Tripadvisor. There are usually enough reviews, they take credit cards (no messy bsnkmtransfers) and they have a Payment Protection Plan in case anything goes wrong (never has for us).
But you might have trouble finding a large apartment for only two nights in Barcelona. Maybe an apartment hotel,would have something or two smaller apartments sleeping 2 in one and 4 in the other.

This place in Barcelona is very well-located and will accept a 2-night stay. You would have to book two apartments as the maximum in one is five people.

Most VIP apartments have a 3 night minimum but there is much to be said for not getting apartments for very short stays as the hassle to benefit ratio goes down quickly. I would not get one for two nights in Barcelona for example.

I book 2 bedroom apartments, not 3, so I don't have specific recommendations. However, I put some random dates into Booking.com and found multiple listings in Paris. Just use the filters to exclude hotels, enter 6 adults, and then scan for 3 bedroom options. Airbnb is another option. And yes, your 20-somethings are adults ;)
