Accommodations and “must dos” in Dijon

My husband and I will be staying in Dijon for 2 days prior to a river cruise in August. Looking for recommendations for a hotel or Air B&B. Also, what should we absolutely do/see/eat/drink? We like to go where the locals go. Thanks!

I spent 2 days in Dijon last October. Hotel des Ducs was very comfortable. We stayed in one of their annexes in a 15th century half-timbered house.
If you are there on a day that it is open, I strongly recommend a visit to Les Halles around lunchtime. Pick up a baguette and a wedge of époisses cheese, and then take a seat at the bar in the middle of the market to enjoy a glass of Pinot noir with your meal.
I had a very good meal at Mon Amie Suzette in Place Francois Rude. The Salade au chèvre chaud at La Comédie is also wonderful, though that may have been more about the nostalgia for me, since it’s what I ate nearly weekly during study abroad 20 years ago.
I really enjoyed visiting the Musee Archéologique. They have an interesting exhibit about the source of the Seine, which is not far from Dijon. Musee des Beaux Arts has a few interesting pieces, though after a dozen rooms of medieval religious art, I was ready for something different.
There are a number of options for wine tastings. We did the one at the Cité Internationale de Gastronomie, which seemed very corporate but does have a broad selection. Next time I think I would do the one in the cellar of the little tourist shop in Place de la Liberté. Le 19 Dijon also has a pretty little courtyard to enjoy an aperitif.
Don’t miss Fallot for mustard. Monoprix for edible souvenirs is cheaper than the shop next to Les Halles.
