accommodation in Provence

Hi, we are planning to spend 8 nights in August at France South.

Could you please recommend what to do and where to stay in France south in the month of August? We are taking a train to Avignon from Paris and I am renting a car there. We thought we can spend couple of days in Arles and Nice. Prefer small town and airbnb kind of homes. No hotels.

Rick Steves Provence & French Riviera book will include a few candidates, but things are probably also getting booked up for the peak vacation period. If you want to consider farm stays, try https://www.bienvenue-a-la-ferme.com/recherche/dormir/2646, for one. Chambres d'hôtes may be the right category for you. Gites tend to be whole-home type of properties and rented by the week.

I found a nice Airbnb on the Arena square in Arles. It was a few blocks from parking along the river. Overall I was really happy with both the quality of the place and the price. It may not have AC, I was there in September and remember keeping the window open to let in the cool air at night. I'm not sure you can live without it in August.

Thank you all. Can I just stay in Arles and drive to different places?
I will stay for 2 nights at Nice.

Nothing against Hotels but we are a family of four and it's hard to find a hotel room which fits all of us.

Thanks
