Accommodation advice for Paris for Feb. 2025

Hi there,
I've read much of the advice about accommodation in Paris.

Has anyone stayed at Hôtel Waldorf Montparnasse?
I'm interested in any comments about the hotel, and the location (restaurants, transit, character and safety)
Appreciate any other advice too.....thanks in advance.

I don't know the hotel, but the area is outstanding. Your Métro connections at the Gare Montparnasse are excellent. The Edgar Quinet and Vavin stops are also close. There's an terrific market street, the rue Daguerre behind the Montparnasse cemetery. There's an organic market every Sunday on the bvd Raspail, which is an easy walk. The Montparnasse Cemetery is worthy of a wander as well. Lots of famous people there. I could go on, but you get the picture.

I've not stayed there but it's a fairly busy street being right across from the station. The Rick Steves tours stay on Rue Delambre with is slightly less busy but don't know about the quality of the hotels vs the one you've chosen. I stayed on Av. Gaite a number of years ago and did not like it...that block was a bit seedy at that time but I like the area from the Edgar Quinet Metro area to Blvd Montparnasse. As a solo 70-something woman traveler I don't have a problem with this area.

There are some interesting places to eat around there. Lots of creperies on the Rue du Montparnasse as that is where many Bretons settled when they moved to Paris as Montparnasse is the station where they arrived. I had the best Saint-Germain Spritz at Cafe Odessa at the 5-point intersection of Rue d'Odessa and Boulevard Edgar Quinet. I've also enjoyed a nice meal at Le Select on Boulevard du Montparnasse. This is a restaurant one of the RS tour guides who is active on social media recommends.

There are also some iconic places near there - La Rotonde and La Couple which have connections to the 20's literary crowd in Paris (1920's not 2020's, lol!!)
