As there is not a AAA partner in France, I'm looking at getting a AutoSMILE ACA membership with breakdown coverage - coming in just under 100 euros for a year's membership
Compared to more than 300 euros SIXT charges for a week for their extra insurance package (I get collission and vehicle theft via my credit card), it seems the smart move.
I'm curious if anyone has done similar in the past? If so, anything to note?

Thanks for the heads up Bets. Seemed like a legit website but maybe is defunct. As it turns out, I was able to get assistance and stand-alone roadside breakdown / assistance added through SIXT for a nominal daily cost that covers most everything including the big concern - keys getting locked inside.
Cars from Sixt are always new models. It's impossible to lock your keys in a new car. I know - if it was possible I would have done it.
