A week trip for Spring break with 2 teenagers

We have traveled a few places in Europe, but not France, yet. What must see places should we go to in France? I would love to spend time at an AIR BNB if possible to see more of the countryside of France. We plan on ending our trip with a few days in Paris.
I would love advice on where is a location outside of Paris that some of you that are "experts" could recommend us going to for a few days.

Thanks so much in advance. We will be traveling the first week in April.

Is spring break March? Could be chilly in Normandy, however, what a wonderful experience for your kids. Normandy would bring their history courses to life. Maybe Loire? Or maybe stay the entire time in Paris and take day trips--Rouen, Giverny, Chartres, Versailles, Fountainbleu. . .

oops, missed the last sentence of your post. I think I would look at the average temps and rain fall for specific regions and then narrow down your options. I still think Normandy could be chilly, but maybe it doesn't matter to your family.

When is spring break? Giverny doesn’t open until the end of March. Until later in April, it can be gray and cloudy north of the Loire. You are better off in a large city and then do a day trip or two on a nice day.

Yes, spring break is the first week in April. I know weather might be a factor. Is renting a car the best option to go on some day trips like Normandy?

If you go to Normandy do some research first to decide outline what you want to see; that is a way you will find out if you need to rent a car or not. Some stuff you can see on a guided tour group.
