A trip to Paris, searching for a place to stay

My husband and I have been planning a trip to Paris for a long time, that's the most cherished dream of our whole family. We thought everything was ready, but we ran into an unexpected problem: we couldn't find a suitable room. Having two children, it turned out to be challenging - either the rooms were too small, or the beds seemed uncomfortable. We looked through a bunch of options while searching, but didn't find anything at a reasonable price.
On Facebook, they recommended the bed size service. They promise that you can search for rooms by bed and room size. Like it's even free! I don't believe in anything 'free'! I explored the website myself and didn't find any catch. Has anyone used it? Are there any 'hidden rocks'?

Our first stay was at Hotel de L’Empereur near Invalides and Rue Cler. We loved having a grocery, market, laundry and patisserie for breakfast nearby and the hotel was very close to the metro to use to get everywhere. Our room was a good size and we had a large bathroom. They were very kind and easy to work with . Rue Cler was delightful to walk every day for anything we needed

I'd go with the comfort of the beds over size of the room. You won't be in the room that much anyway, at least, we wouldn't be.

"recommended on Facebook" means "someone paid us to push it" IMHO.

Stick to well known, reputable booking sources. Booking.com, direct with hotel, even Expedia.

I often see room sizes in booking.com's hotel listings. Beds are listed by type (twin, queen, etc.) rather by measurement, however, and I think sizes for the same type of bed may vary from country to country.

You don't mention the age of your children, but when we were in Paris in March 2024 we stayed in Hotel des Nations Saint Germain on Rue Monge. The locations was fantastic. We had one double room on the 4th floor which was very small and nothing special but the beds were comfortable. Our daughters shared a room on the ground floor called 'comfort triple'. with one large bed and 1 twin bed. It looks like they have another room on that floor called "quad" with 4 twin beds. The comfort triple was SO MUCH bigger than our double room, the bathroom was accessible so it was very large and the room itself became the place where all 5 of us gathered to eat our breakfast pastries and leftovers. The one quirky thing about the rooms on the ground level is you step outside into a very small inner courtyard for just a few steps to get to the room door.
My review was posted on March 16th, "adequate but not exceptional". I didn't give it a very high rating but that was really because I had an issue with the person at the front desk during check in and because I thought our double room was worth the price.

What do you consider a "reasonable price"? Paris hotels are, in general, crazy expensive, especially when you start adding extra beds.

I have stayed at and recommend Le Prince Regent https://www.leprinceregent.com/ in the 6th which is an apart-hotel so you'll have a kitchen, very nice for a family. Many here also recommend Apartments du Louvre, https://www.apartmentsdulouvre.com and Cobblestone Paris, https://cobblestoneparis.com.
You might also search booking.com, where you'll be able to sort by beds, price, ratings, etc., and look at where they are on the map. Read the reviews!

Hotel Bedford has very comfortable beds.

We've stayed here twice since they have very large connecting rooms. When we stayed in July 2024 we had them set up one of the rooms with three twin beds. Everyone was happy.
Both times we booked using booking.com.

Guys, thank you all for the answers. I took a chance and tried bedsizefinder after all, and it turned out not so bad, as the service appeared to be a partner of expedia com and all links lead to expedia com after you make a search. On expedia com or booking com there is no way to choose the size of the room and the bed before you make a search or at least see it in the search results - and in this regard I liked bedsizefinder more. We have chosen D'win Hotel, a family room with 1 double and 1 twin bed (for kids, I think that's good enough for two boys of 4 and 6 years), it seems like a good option for $211 / night in November, what do you think? Or it is worth considering other options (my search is saved - bedsizefinder com/search/358). Deluxe Apartment in Aparthotel Quartier Libre Opéra looks really beautiful, but pricy :(

House Rules for the D'Win on booking.com say children over 3 years old are charged as adults, so I don't think it will go well if you show up for your triple room with a party of 4. I thinks it's pretty standard in many places in Europe to treat children the age of yours as adults for the purpose of figuring out how many beds are needed. I wouldn't put two children in a twin bed, anyway.

I'd recommend reading a bunch of reviews on booking.com, where you cannot leave a review unless you've actually stayed at the property, before making a final decision. I see the D'Win has a rating of 7.7. I stay in many hotels with ratings like that or even 7.0, but I know many people on the forum prefer to stick to places rated at 8.0 or higher. There will probably be some imperfections in a hotel with a rating of 7.7; it might just be something like sort of tired room decor.

So here's what is on the booking engine for the d'win "TThis room is for 3 people with a large double bed 160x190cm and another room with a single bed 90x190cm, a minimum surface of 28m2." When you show up with that 4th person even though you think it's fine for the two kids you may very likely be told "NO" It's more related to fire code than anything but I was unfortunate enough to watch a family have a fit and then have to pay an extremely high price because they assumed that "extra small person" was not a problem.

The D'Win's website says that the family room is for 3 or 4 people. I'd contact them to confirm that your group of four will be fine because the rule for Paris is "do not show up with four people and a reservation for a triple." This will not fly in Paris. I have a former colleague who tried that and not only did he not get the room that he reserved but the hotel never refunded his credit card for the full amount of his non-cancelable reservation. His family ended up staying in a much more expensive place because when you need a quad room at the last minute in Paris, your options are very limited. I'd hate for that to happen to you.

In addition to what has already been said, the hotel website says that the family room is on the third floor, which means the 4th floor for Americans. Based on Booking.com reviews, the hotel does NOT have an elevator. So you will have to walk up and down four flights of stairs, if that's a deal breaker for you.

I recently stayed at Hotel French Theory. They have a room with 2 bunk beds. It wouldn't be ideal, but everyone would have their own mattress. I liked the hotel and the location.

A place in the Latin Quarter that includes a full breakfast:
Hotel du Levant

They have a wide variety of rooms and prices. A friend of mine stayed there in September and was happy with it. I've got a reservation in November.

Finding a hotel via a 3rd party is lovely, I’d always contact and confirm and book direct with hotel though.

https://www.signature-saintgermain.com/en/ - we stayed in their family room. It’s “two rooms” but reality is that it’s got a shared door/is more like 1 room with 2 bedrooms and bathrooms. Absolutely perfect location, experience, wonderful hotel can’t recommend enough.
