We will be visiting the Loire valley in a few weeks using Saumur as our homebase. The next part our our trip will be in Britanny. Can I get some tips on an interesting town or city between Saumur and Vannes that would be a good place to have lunch and stretch our legs for a few hours ?

We did that same drive from Saumur to Brittany. Love Brittany. We didn't stop before Vannes, but I was going to mention that people like Nantes, and there is a chateau there. We made a stop in Carnac which is close to Vannes. Carnac has a lovely beach and has megaliths. FYI, In Brittany we LOVED, LOVED LOVED Locronan and Dinard. Other wonderful places were Quimper, Dinan and Saint-Malo

Galletes and cidre in Fougeres, next to the ruins of the old chateau, would be a fitting introduction to Brittany.
