My wife and I are thinking of spending a month in Paris. We've seen just about everything there is to see at least once, which is not to say we won't re=visit some museums, etc. That said, we want to rent away from the crowds--we can always use the Metro to get to Centre Ville if necessary. Any suggestions? We don't need high dollar comfort nor do we relish living in a ghetto. Thanks.
Paris is more a collection of neighborhoods, than it is a city with a center. There are thousands of hotels in Paris. Help others trying to help you by stating when you are traveling, your budget window in euros, any location preferences, and how many people will be staying. Meaningful responses require a bit more information.
Are you wanting an apartment for your lengthy visit or a hotel?
On our first visit to Paris, we rented apartments in two neighborhoods for a week each. This gave us the opportunity for two experiences and also prevented us having to launder sheets and find a place to hang them to dry in a tiny apartment! (Lazy, yes!)
We chose Marais and Butte-aux-Cailles, but the choices are many. Happy planning.
I myself will be spending 29 nights in Paris this September/October. I chose an apartment, through AirBnB w/registration number for $2,000, just outside of "Paris Ile-de-France" border on Metro Line 1 near the Berault stop, the stop before Chateau de Vincennes.
I booked the apartment 7 months out and got what I wanted, prices were higher and or smaller units within the "Paris Border".
Here is a recent discussion about Place d'Italie (which I remember as the home of the Thibault family in my HS French class slideshows).
