We will spend a week in Paris in early September and would like to do something different for 3 or 4 days before we are in Paris. We would like a smaller town that we can reach by train - preferably not overly touristy (I can get by reasonably well in French), and we'd like a hotel that has a nice garden and a swimming pool, and that is charming and unpretentious, and from which we could hike or bike (ideally on a dedicated bike path) at least a little bit. This is a pretty specific request, I know!, but people on these forums seem to have a wealth of knowledge so I figured I'd give it a try! Thank you in advance.
