How close to Pigalle? What's the address or name of the hotel? If it really is at Pigalle, it is on the #2 Metro line, one that serves a lot of tourists. Consequently, keep your valuables close to your body. It's a very lively area.
I've stayed near there regularly for the last ten years.

The Parisian arrondissements can have very different atmospheres depending on the part of the arrondissement.

In the 9th arrondissement, Le Pigalle hotel is located in the Pigalle area which is very lively (even and especially at night), and between two other tourist areas: Montmartre to the north and the Grands Boulevard / Galeries Lafayette / Opéra to the south

You will be very close to the famous restaurant "Bouillon Pigalle" which takes up the great classics of French brasserie cuisine with a typically Parisian decor and low prices. Starters at less than 5€, main courses at less than 15€. It is open daily from noon to midnight.

Don't worry, the neighborhood is quite safe, but as Bets advised you, don't walk around with your $1000 smartphone or your wallet sticking out of your pocket.

Great area. Glade to hear someone venturing beyond rue Cler.
