My husband and I are planning a trip to France in late March that will include 6 nights in Paris and an additional 9 nights to visit the Champagne and Loire Valley regions. We will be depending on trains, and busses, for the most part, to travel the distances between these destinations.
I would appreciate any suggestions for an itinerary . We are well traveled seniors with very little luggage!😊
We spent 4 nights at Les Crayeres years ago. The food was exquisite and the hotel is just gorgeous! We visited several champagne houses and did tours. A delightful town. But we did not do other touring as we were traveling with an infant.
We enjoyed the Champagne region and stayed in Ay a few k from Epernay. The Champagne house tours in Epernay were wonderful and we especially enjoyed touring Moet e Chandon with its historic cellars.
Have you seen the Rick Steves show on the Loire Valley? I stayed at a pleasant B and B in Blois (next to Amboise) that was a mill complete with a millpond and was very close to the chalets and hunting lodges shown on that show. I even got to see the feeding of the hunting dogs at Cheverny. The lodges I got to visit were amazing.
We stayed in Epernay at Moet Hotel .... lovely little hotel with a great champagne bar and nice breakfast. It's super close to the Avenue and the TI there was super helpful. We had 3 nights and easily could have done 4 nights but we had a car so we could explore the region but if you plan a private tour away from Epernay that would work too!
Thanks to all of you who replied to my inquiry. They will be very helpful when planning my itinerary
