70 euros for parking at MSM?

Am I reading it right? Does it really cost 70 euros to park in the big lot at MSM in October?

I think she means Mount St. Michel but I could be wrong. It would really be nice if people would spell things out versus using initials to avoid confusion.

I can understand your confusion. Don't worry - “autocar” is the French word for bus.

You will be driving a “VL” - *véhicule léger * - unless you have à moto (motorcycle) or camping car (RV).

VL is any kind of regular car.

First of all, I apologize for not typing out Mont St. Michel. Thank you, everyone, for your replies.

And thank you, Kim, for clarifying that for me! Yes, I thought Autocar was a car! So 20 euros is a lot better than 70. Whew!

They really should provide an English version or at least a key/legend !

Google translate did pretty good job when I looked at it.

I looked at the website that JHK linked to and was able to choose English.

I clicked on the link and chose English, too, but it still said “Autocar,” which wasn’t clear what that was. It was also stunning that a “Camping-car” was so much cheaper than an “Autocar.”

And this is outside of July and August, when the Autocar price goes up to €90 !!!! The VL price, then, is €25, €2 less than a Camping-car, and double the price of a Moto.

What a difference from July 2008, when we were able to drive out to the base of the Mont, and park in a lot for free!

Kathy, MSM is perfectly fine. This is a Europe-centric travel site, after all. If someone really didn't know what it was, they could type "MSM" into the search bar at the top and check out any of the 1100 posts that pop up.

To explain pricing according to vehicle types

Autocar (also Car) = Coach

Autobus (also Bus) = Bus

Camping Car = Motorhome or RV

VL (Vehicule Léger - Light vehicule) = Car

PL (Poids Lourd ) = Truck

Moto = Motorbike

At least “Parking” is a consistent term, and it doesn’t mean hanging out in a city park!
