Your insight as to where we should "base ourselves" would be greatly appreciated. My husband and I are first time travellers to France. We have approximately 7 nights to spend in the Burgundy area - perhaps in 2 locations. We will be travelling to this area after spending 14 nights in Provence basing ourselves in 3 ? areas. We enjoy good wine but we are not that knowledgable in French wines. Our focus of this trip is to enjoy wine in lovely vineyards, enjoy coffee /meals in outdoor areas with amazing views or gardens, rent bikes for day trips or possibly 2-3 night trips, kayak in beautiful areas, gentle hiking/walking. We will see some of the areas churches, museums, etc but in general we enjoy being active in the outdoors and enjoying wine/coffee/food in unique areas. We also just love enjoying a morning on our patio with good coffee and tasty croissants for some down time or wine in the evening on our patio with market food to munch on and recap the experiences of the day. A vineyard stay of 2 nights somewhere would be lovely. We do not care for busy cities, heavy traffic, crowded places when we travel. Thank you for any suggestions you may have.
