What are ya'll's thoughts on this tour? Do you get to see enough? Thinking of going on it in April with my wife. We did the Heart of Italy Tour this past April. Loved it!
I did this tour about 10 years ago and thought it was wonderful. I'd been to Paris in the 1970's and just did not enjoy it. A lifetime later I wondered why some very close friends LOVED Paris and decided to do the 7 day Best of Paris tour as an add-on after Rick's 21 day Best of Europe tour to see if I could figure out what was so attractive to everyone. Well, the downside is I fell in love with Paris and now can't stay away, lol!!
Yes, we saw a LOT and more importantly to me learned how to navigate the Metro system and the RER trains out to Versailles. This may not be a selling point for those who live where there is public transit but for me this was huge! I loved having Rolinka's voice in my ear saying things like...."See how that person in the red jacket is lined up to get on the Metro car? They are in the wrong spot and will make people angry because they will block the folks getting off".
I do recommend getting there a few days early both to allow some flex time in case there is a travel hiccup and to get yourself rested from travel. There is also so much to see in Paris that you can't see it in the 6 days you've got on the tour.
I also did the Heart of Italy as my first RS tour. The advantage of this tour is that you are not moving hotels and can kind of dig in to the neighborhood!
April is a wonderful time in Paris, too. Things are in bloom (take allergy medication with you if you have seasonal allergies to pollen!!) and it's just lovely! You'll need waterproof jackets but I recommend that for any European travel.
We are scheduled for the 7 day Paris tour in October. We did do the Paris and the Heart of France tours in 2023 and loved the time we spent in Paris. We have 4 days pre tour the, 3 days on the tour, and the last night was a return to Paris for our final dinner. Looking forward to seeing some of the items we missed when we were there last. We will be coming from the Best of Spain tour so I will be glad to have a single hotel for our seven days. Most importantly I am looking forward to seeing the repaired/restored Notre Dame as it was under construction in 23. The tour does cover a lot but you have several free afternoons.
I would suggest you take a look at the reviews for the tour. Lots of good information on what folks liked and did not like.
I hope this helps.
