7 day itinerary - Capturing Paris, Lourdes & Nice - Family vacation

Hello
I am planning a 7 day trip to France in the 2nd week of April 2016. I am from Sri Lanka and this is my first time in Paris. My husband and I will be travelling with our 8 year old daughter and wish to ensure we make the utmost out of our visit.

Your ideas are most welcome.
We would like to commence our visit from Paris. A visit to the Church of our of Lourdes is a must. Please help us to make the most of it. We would also like to experience the true feel of southern France, hence my choice of Nice.

We have a full 7 days for the visit which does not include the days we fly in and fly out of Paris.

Please also advise comfortable and homely accommodation within these three cities. We would like to experience homestays and not the usual hotel stays.

Transportation advise is also appreciated.

Many thanks/Manoli

Hi,
Ive done Paris to Lourdes via train. It's at least a 6 hour train ride, not counting the checking in and out of hotels and getting to and from the train station. You've wasted a whole day just getting there. Paris and Lourdes in 7 days is plenty without throwing in Nice. SNCF website says Lourdes to Nice is another 10 hours. That's another day wasted on the train. Consider Bordeaux instead as its along the Paris to Lourdes train route. It's not Southern France but it's a lovely town just the same.

You really don't have time for all 3. Paris takes at least 5 nights 4 full days and Lourdes is as inconvenient a place to get to as there is. I would land in Paris and plan to train to Lourdes that late afternoon and spend two nights there, then return to Paris and fly home from there.

A day in Nice won't give you 'the feel' of the south of France. It is a big city on the Med. and getting there will just suck up too much of your time..

Seven days is not very much time. I would do 3 days in Paris, then transfer to Narbonne for 2 days with day trip to Perpignan and/or Collioure to get a taste of southern France and the sea. Then transfer to Lourdes to see the church and spend the night and then back to Paris for flight home. I would not waste the time and effort going all the way to Nice, it's a long way from Lourdes.

Or, as others have mentioned, just spend the time in Paris and Lourdes and save Nice and the Riviera for another trip.

Hi Jackie

Any advise on places to stay in Bordeaux and PAris please. Is St Germaine an ok neighbourhood to book a B& B? Any thoughts?

Thanks & Rgds/Darshi
