What do you like? Do you like a funkier/student vibe? Or a more upscale vibe with fewer students and more artsy, well-heeled grownups?

You are asking about which arrondissement to stay in, I am assuming. For a place to stay, I love the Passy neighborhood (16th) which is like Rick’s “village Paris” and yet often in easy walking distance of the Eiffel Tower.

If you are thinking about hotels in the 5th vs the 6th, you should get excellent recommendations here.

I recently stayed at Hotel Left Bank in the 6th (in St. Germain) and loved that location. My hotel was a block away from the Odeon metro stop; there were dozens of wonderful cafes, patisseries, boulangeries and much more in the neighborhood. And it was a short walk to Notre Dame, Pont Neuf, Luxembourg Gardens and so on.

A lot depends on what you want to see. With only 2 nights, you want something that isn't too far out and is close to the sights you want to visit.
