5 nights in Annecy

We plan to stay in Annecy for 5 nights in May 2027. We are from the US and looking for inspiration--things to do in that area plus easy/interesting day trips. We do not plan to rent a car so will most likely be getting around by train.

hey hey Mary
we've been to annecy about 5-6 years ago and loved it, some love it and some don't (different opinions). i'm just amazed how many posters have mentioned to see/stay in annecy nowadays. every week there seems to be a post about info for the town.
these are my own thoughts with things you can research. look at train and bus transportation, we took a 4-5hr private tour around the lake which was great with gaelle "taxi-massingy.com" born and raised in annecy, english is great, email/contact her what you want and she gives options.
couple places we liked col de la forclaz a mountain pass overlooking lake with paragliders soaring right above youcows roaming the pastures with cowbells around their neck making music.

working dairy farm serving lunch above the stalls of cows below thru window floors. pick your farm cheese plate warming with table oven and enjoy this unusual meal with dessert. it was so so good

check the castle and can do a tour. the castle was an imspiration for disney's sleeping beauty castle after his visit there.

la rotisserie du thiou. hole in the wall near the canal. we did a fixed price fondue lunch on outside table, was good
