Hello! We have a 5hr layover in Paris and curious if that’s enough time to go visit the Eiffel Tower and get back through security to make our flight. I’ve heard going through security at de Gaulle can take awhile.
Thanks in advance.

Nope. It could be an hour from landing to getting through Passport Control and exiting the airport. Then a MINIMUM of 30-45 minutes to the ET area. Same amount of time for the return. And you need to be at the airport 3 hours before your flight. So you would have zero time available for any sightseeing, or even a coffee at a sidewalk Cafe,
Also - you aren't going to just walk up the the Eiffel Tower, buy and ticket and go up. You will wait in possibly a VERY long line, depending on the day. It's entirely possible it will take hours.
Not sufficient time.
My husband always claims that I like to live on the edge. However, when I read your post, even I became anxious. There's no way. Even if you just want to "see" it meaning travel in, take a look and turn around and go back, you still don't have enough time.
I almost always tell travelers to go for it and go into town for a quick look from airports.
Except this time.
I remember relying on the RER-B train for my return flight home out of CDG one morning.
When I got to the RER station, it was absolutely mobbed because most of the train drivers went out on strike that morning.
You always need to be prepared for that unforeseeable event.
So, based on all the responses, I’d say it worth the risk. Just kidding!! Thanks for all the advice. I’m gonna cross that off the list.
For future reference, the bare minimum I would consider for a sightseeing layover in Paris in the Overseas-Schengen direction is about 7-7.5 hours. Add 30-60 min in the other direction.
