5 days in France

We are traveling home from Paris in September. Between Switzerland and flying out of Paris. We have 5 days. Where should we go in France? Prefer food, scenery, experiences. Not so much museums, palaces, etc. only doing train travel and coming from Lausanne and Geneva area. Thank you for opinions.

You could visit Strasbourg, France and Colmar in the Alsace region of France.

Or, if you are farther south, like in Geneva, you could visit Lyon that region.

Another option might take more than five days, would be to visit Provence in the South of France, Avignon, Aix, Arles, Monaco, Nice, etc.

Lyon. Food - it’s the epicenter. Lucy Vanel at Plum Lyon will give you a market visit with a Local, and an exceptional cooking class experience https://www.plumlyon.com/ . And lunch in a traditional bouchon will be memorable.

Lyon’s not heavy on museums, although some are interesting, but there’s also the old Croix Rousse silkweaver’s district, a cathedral that looks like a white upside-down elephant from downtown, and an impressive ancient Roman theater. The “secret passageways “ traboules are also fascinating.

We love the Alsace area and would pick that first, but Annecy (and then Lyon) aren't that far from the Geneva area. Not sure where you're coming from in Switzerland. That would be a nice 5 day trip between the Geneva and Paris.

Also only on trains. Coming bag from either Lausanne or Geneva.
