5 days in Collioure

My wife and I will be staying in Collioure for 5 days without a car in September.
Can you suggest things to do and things to see.
Any advice on which restaurants to eat in?

Is walking from the train station to the center of town walkable?
Are there any day trips you would suggest from Collioure?

Thank you for your suggestions; much appreciated!

We had a car when we were in the area, so I can recommend Ceret; but I don’t know about getting there by public transport. Several modern artists, including Picasso, actually lived there at some time. The art museum features their works, as well as many others. There are ceramic tile reproductions of some works, decorating various spots around town. There is also a musical instruments museum, which was fun to explore.

We only had a couple of nights in Collioure (our loss!), so I hope those who know it better will chime in. We enjoyed a couple of small, casual places to eat: Chez Simone and Els Taps. It's easy walking (downhill) from the train station, as I recall. (We also had no car.)

We loved Collioure! We had a car and visited Cathar castles and Carcassone to the north, then stayed next in Costa Brava and ended in Barcelona

It is a delightful spot, but 5 days there without a car seems like rather a lot.

You can certainly walk to the train station, though it is not right in town.

I agree with Adam. I was there for 7 days with a car and enjoyed it, but would have found it challenging without a car. the best part of Collioure is the evenings. It was a great place to be.

We love Collioure! Have stayed 3 nights 2xs without a car. Easy walk to town from the train station. Excellent dinner at La Plage Aux Mouettes with beautiful view of the sea. Also, enjoyed El Capillo Restaurant off the beaten track.

Our favorite things to do in Collioure: shopping at the outdoor market, exploring Château Royal, visiting the little seaside church Notre-Dame des Anges, swimming in the sea, drinking a glass of Rosé on the beach.

Also, it is possible to do a day trip by train to Figueres, Spain to see the Dali museum.
Enjoy!

In July 2011 we did likewise, spending 5 days in Collioure. There were 4 of us, the ten year old grandson included, took the 5 hour TGV from Paris Gare de Lyon to Perpignan, then changed to the regional train to Collioure.

Yes, you can walk from the station to the center of town, ca 35-40 mins, very nice. We all did it with luggage in tow since it seemed the easiest thing to do after the train rides.

It's only a half mile from the Collioure train station to the tourist office near the sea (middle of town). I'd call it 15 minutes.
