40th Wedding Anniversary dinner in Paris

My husband and I will be in Paris for our 40th anniversary. We are staying in the Rue Cler area. We would love recommendations for a nice dinner the night of our anniversary.

Budget? Type of food? Do you mind traveling to other parts of Paris? If budget is not an issue and you want to stay close to "home," take a look at Le Violin d'Ingres.

I would recommend the 7eme Vin which is near Rue Cler. It is not a big, fancy restaurant, but a cute little bistro type. However, when I was last there the food was delicious and they had a great wine list. It has good reviews on TripAdvisor, plus you might get other suggestions in the neighborhood also.

In 1983, my wife and I had dinner at Plaza d'Athenae, which i still remember to this day. Probably 1 star, but 5 forks (high on comfort and service, food good). It was great. Probably spent $250 in 1983, so not cheap. But very nice.

Le Petite Cler, Le Caisse Noix ( reserve 48 hours in advance), or Cafe Constant.

Check reviews for each to see which one strikes your fancy.

Café Constant, as Claudia recommended, is my favorite.
Amazingly good food. Charming, very French atmosphere, and well under your budget not including alcohol.

I'll give you two very different options!
For a beautiful view and a memorable meal I would recommend the Georges at the top of the Pompidou Museum. The views are some of the best from any restaurant in Paris and, for the experience the price isn't bad. We reserved a table here at sunset this past summer and it was a lovely experience. They also have an outdoor patio if the weather is nice.
Another good restaurant that is a bit off the beaten path is Le Train Bleu in the Gare de Lyon. It's about as opposite of the Georges as you can find. Very old world, virtually unchanged from the Belle Epoque, gorgeous interiors, and excellent food. Went for my birthday and loved it.
I think both of these are worthy of your 40th anniversary celebration...congratulations!

If a beautiful room is the goal:
Train Bleu. or Bofinger

If a view is important:
Les Ombres -- view through glass roof to Eiffel Tower
Tour d'Argent (we had lunch there for our 43rd anniversary which would be in your budget and it was wonderful -- dinner is probably over your budget)

This was the best meal of these 4

for a lovely 7 course menu for 48 Euro each our go to restaurant is L'Initial in the 5th near Notre Dame; we have eaten there for celebratory dinners several times and the food is beautifully presented and very good; an ordinary white table cloth room.
