38 days in France: we are set !

Hi !
we (2 adults and 2 kids of 11 and 15 years old) will make a road trip in France in July-August. We have 37 nights for that trip. We know July-august is the worst time to travel but having kids in school and being a Teacher (me) and a school psychologist (my wife) kinds of dictate our travel time ! So our trip is july 4 to august 11.

We have lease a car (Renault captur automatic) that we hope we will really get !

Paris: 6 nights get leased car car at the end at CDG airport
Honfleur: 2 nights and day trip to Etretat and stop to Rouen on road from Paris
Bayeux: 3 nights ddays beaches, tapestry, museum, enjoy 14th july ! Head to Brittanny with a stop in Mont St-Michel (we will get up early to try to avoid daytrippers but it’s just a photo op for us so…)
Britanny : 8 nights ( 3 Dinan, 4 Quimper and 1 Vannes)
Puy du Fou : 2 nights in a airbnb in a village near (our tickets are bought so we cant leave that one out !)
Dordogne (house with a pool 2 km from Sarlat): 5 nights
Murat (Auverge): 1 night with a stop on Puy Mary
Puy-en-Velay: 2 nights
Thônes (French Alps): 5 nights. Daytrips to Annecy, Chamonix and other mountains around.
Lyon: 3 nights . Leave our car in our Arrival in Lyon. Fly back to Montreal (With a layover in Frankfurt) on the last day ( at 1 pm)
We made reservations (refundable) only in Airbnb (beside Lyon)
What about that ?

Trip insurance is recommended if big items on your trip are non refundable. We use Travel Guard. If only your stay in Lyon is non refundable then take the risk. Air Canada? They will give you a full voucher for future travel or refund all but, in my case, there is a $800 + fee as I did not want a voucher. I have Trip Insurance so chose the option with $800 fee.
Your itinerary looks wonderful!

You always plan such interesting trips. It looks great to me, and you have about 2 weeks in the north where you probably won't encounter high temperatures.

Suki: We have a travel insurance with my work that should cover everything, but thnaks for the tip !

ACraven: Thanks ! I dont know where you get that from, but thanks anyways ! We like to read and ask a lot of questions about every trip we make so I guess people here are king of responsible for that !

Very nice route.

Note that national roads and highways will be very busy on weekends in July and August.
If your trip Le Puy du Fou → Sarlat is planned for a weekend, avoid taking the A10 motorway, even partially.

Looks like a great route, no comments on this final version!

Saturdays are the worst day for this. Thankfully your route avoids the most traffic-prone highways. For Puy du Fou to Sarlat, the advice above is good. You'll save quite a bit of toll money, too, if you go via Niort, Melle, Angoulême and Périgueux instead of the all-autoroute route via Bordeaux.

The roade between Puy du Fou and Sarlat will be done on a Wednesday. We want to make a stop in Oradour-sur-Glane.
