Hi, I am taking the above tour Sept 8-21.
I am leaving France on Sept 24 and was thinking of staying in Avignon for the 3 days and traveling by Train to CDG on the same day.
Any other suggestions for those days? I will not have a car. Anything closer to Paris to recommend? I have visited Paris many times and have also been to the southern coast as well as Lyon.

My memory is staying in Aix-en-Provence an extra night, taking a day trip by train to Marseille, and then the next day flying out of the Marseille airport to Paris and then catching the connecting flight to the US. You have some options, including Avignon. Did you price flying out of Marseille rather than traveling back to Paris to catch your flight?

I would go to Paris the nite before my flight rather than taking the train 400 miles to the airport the day of my flight. If there's any delay on the train that causes you to miss your flight then rebooking is going to be at your expense and depending on your ticket type may be at walk-up prices. Flights are pretty full these days so you may also need to find a last-minute hotel room in Paris for the nite.
