2 week trip to Provence

We are going to Provence in late October for 2 weeks.
I would love some feedback on my itinerary. We would rent a car when leaving Aix.
We want to spend a day in Montpellier and visit Nimes. I haven't figured out the best sequence for that part of the trip. Should we stay in Nimes for 3 nights with a day trip to Montpellier or vice versa.

2 nights Aix after arrival by train from Paris
2 nights in Rousillion
6 nights in St Remy with day trips to L'isle Sur la Sorgue, Arles, Avignon, and Les Baux
During the last 4 days we would visit Nimes, Aigues Mortes, la Camargue, and Montpellier.
We would then take the train back to Paris.

Thank you

When in Nimes, be sure to visit the Point de Gard. Fantastic Rpman aqueduct!

That looks like a sensible itinerary. I'd have given Aix another night, and Arles a night, with four in St-Remy, but your interests may be different. You'll see a lot of great scenery. I haven't been to Montpellier, but I loved Nimes, and I agree that the Pont du Gard is not to be missed if you're interested in the Romans. So I might give Nimes and Montpellier each two nights -- but maybe there's more that interests you in Montpellier.

You probably already know this, but you can get a fast train to Paris from Arles, or Nimes, or Montpellier, depending on your sequence and where's the best place to drop the car.

You could subtract two or three nights from Saint Rémy and Nîmes and stay overnight in Arles, a city with a rich patrimony and the gateway to the Camargue. Though very close to Arles, Nîmes is closer to Aigues Mortes and the part of the Camargue west of the Rhone and Montpellier.

You can stay in Nîmes and do daytrips to Montpellier and Aigues Mortes. However, I'd add the Pont du Gard and Uzès and continue to Avignon at the end of your trip.

The following itinerary reduces Saint Rémy, reduces driving back and forth long distances, but does add another hotel change.
2 nights Aix
2 night Rousillion
3 nights Saint Rémy with visits to Les Baux (very close) and L'Isle sur la sorgue
2 nights Arles, drive into and visit La Camargue on your way to Nîmes
3 nights Nîmes with daytrips to Montpellier, Aigues Mortes+ Les Saline du Midi
2 nights Avignon but spending the day visiting Pont du Gard and Usèz on your way
IMHO Uzès is one of the most interesting places I've visited in the south. Your drive would be Nîmes-->Pont du Gard-->Uzès
-->Avignon. This leaves you with 2 nights/one full day in Avignon. Return car in Avignon.
