Vaux le Vicomte

Hi. #1) I don’t know how to search for discussions in the Forum related to a particular topic. Can someone advise me? I don’t want to go through countless pages in an attempt not to ask a question that people have already responded to. But here goes:

2) I will be in Paris for 9 days end of May/1st part of June . I’m considering going to Vaux le Vicomte chateau for the day. For those who have taken this excursion from Paris, was getting there fairly easy? I’m 72, might possibly be going alone, & am not quite as brave as I was when I was younger. The directions on the chateau website are pretty straight forward & if I have help at the train station, I hope there won’t be any problems.

You will be more likely to get answers if you give some hint in your title. I suggest editing it to sometime like:

Check on their website to see if there is a shuttle from the train station and go when there is one. It is a fair piece from the train station and cabs are not waiting when you arrive. We had some difficulty getting a cab when we went; the people at the chateau called one for us when we left. It is a wonderful place to visit and if you can do it when there is shuttle service then I'd do it that way.

We did it nearly 15 years ago as you can see and there was no shuttle at the time of year we went.

apparently they now run a shuttle from the Melun station and I would plan to use that:

I took the shuttle in November 2022, very straightforward. The chateau is gorgeous, and the included audio turn brought the place to life. I highly recommend it!

If you are up to it, an additional 2 or 3€ gives you access to the cupola, well worth it. At the time I went, you payed for this while on the tour, so you can decide in the moment.

Sorry I guess I pressed the reply butto. I was Paris for the month of November 2023 And I love to attend the Christmas markets. One of the highlights of my trip, At the top of my list, Was the Christmas visit To the Chateau! Fabulous, Magical, Exciting, I can't begin to tell you What a wonderful experience it was. Enough so that I will come back At another time.

If you walk out of the train station just go to the street directly in front of it, straight out. I believe there is a bar / restaurant and there should be people mingling at a bus stop and there was a shuttle. It was raining that day 100% and it was also the first day that the Chateau opened for the Christmas Extravaganza. I believe when you booked the tickets you can book the shuttle for around trip fee. Definitely worth it.
